Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo Celebrates Summer

. October 14, 2008

HONG KONG, May 30, 2007. Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo located within the prestigious financial, historic and cultural center of the city, celebrates summer in true, Edo-chic style with a package that is available for the first 80 reservations made, and is valid from 1 July through 31 August 2007.

Each pair of guests booking the MO Sense of Nippon package, will receive a set of fine cut glass Edo Kiriko sak'e cups handcrafted for Mandarin Oriental and featuring the hotel's trademark fan, together with a bottle of premium Oku no Matsu Junmai Daiginjo-shu pure rice sak'e. Highly fragrant with a crisp, clean flavor, this premium label from Fukushima Prefecture in northern Japan is characteristic of sak'e brewed from rice that has been polished at higher milling rates, considered to be the pinnacle of the sake craft. In addition, each couple will receive two original Japanese fans designed in a special collaboration by two time-honored Nihonbashi shops: Chikusen, purveyors of yukata since 1842; and Ibasen, makers of fine silk, bamboo and paper fans since 1590. Shaped by Ibasen artisans, the flat fan is made of hand-dyed Chikusen-brand yukata fabric.

To complete this Japanese experience, a selection of original, cotton yukata summer wear created by Chikusen for men and women is available for purchase at the hotel starting from JPY47,000 each.

For each participating pair of guests, the MO Sense of Nippon package includes:

o One night accommodation in a Deluxe Room (King- or twin-bedded)

o One 720 ml bottle of Oku no Matsu Junmai Daiginjo-shu sak'e

o A pair of hand-cut, Edo Kiriko sak'e cups, presented in a traditional wooden box and wrapped with customary furoshiki textile

o Two original Ibasen fans crafted of hand-dyed yukata fabric

This double occupancy package price, which includes sales tax and a 10% service charge, is JPY65,000 for stays commencing Sunday through Friday and JPY74,000 for stays commencing on Saturday or the day prior to a national holiday. Tokyo's municipal accommodation tax of JPY200 per person per night is charged separately. Check-in is 3 p.m.; check-out is 12 noon. Full payment of the published rate is charged for cancellations after 3 p.m. on the day prior to arrival.
