ATLANTA, GA, May 24, 2007. Candlewood Suites(R) announces today that its first hotel outside the U.S. is scheduled to open next month in downtown Montr'eal, Quebec, Canada. Formerly a high-rise apartment building, the 147-room Candlewood Suites Montr'eal-Centre Ville is one of several properties the brand expects to develop in Canada over the next few years. In addition to another Candlewood Suites hotel approved for Toronto, Ontario, the brand is also targeting key markets in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, along with further development in Ontario and Quebec.
"Demand growth for extended-stay hotels continues to exceed the rate of supply growth in countries outside of the U.S., including Canada," said Gina LaBarre, vice president, Brand Management, Candlewood Suites. "With less than 40 branded extended-stay hotels in Canada, the market has been served to-date by 'all-suite' hotels or corporate apartment hotels, which don't necessarily meet the needs of extended-stay guests seeking 'just-like-home' hotel accommodations," she added.
