Australia Hosts Tourism Exchange
MAY 28, 2007. Australia's biggest tourism trade event, the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) 2007, officially opened in Brisbane on Saturday 26, May 2007.
ATE is Australia's premier event for generating international tourism business to Australia which is worth $20.5 billion annually.
The week-long event is expected to inject around $10 million into the local economy, with around 13,000 visitor nights in Brisbane during ATE07. In the longer term, ATE helps to position Brisbane and Australia as leading holiday destinations assisting future tourism growth.
Around 1,700 Australian delegates from 630 companies are expected to meet with up to 600 key overseas buyers from over 40 countries for over 40,000 business appointment at during ATE07.
The Minister for Small Business and Tourism, the Hon Fran Bailey MP, will officially open ATE 2007 to more than 2,000 delegates during today's lunch.
