Wyndham Introduces Brand to Myrtle Beach, SC
Re-flags Two of Four Premier Timeshare Resorts as Wyndham Properties
APRIL 30, 2007. Wyndham Vacation Ownership, the world's largest vacation ownership company and a member of the Wyndham Worldwide family of companies (NYSE: WYN), announced it has introduced the Wyndham brand to Myrtle Beach, S.C. by re-flagging two of its four premier resorts in Myrtle Beach under the Wyndham banner. This change marks one of the first milestones in the recently-announced re-branding initiative bringing the number of Wyndham Vacation Resort properties currently in the area to four.
Fairfield Myrtle Beach at Ocean Boulevard will now be known as Wyndham Ocean Boulevard and Fairfield Myrtle Beach at 'The Cottages' will become Wyndham at The Cottages. Both properties, located in Myrtle Beach, S.C., are affiliated with the company's FairShare Plus portfolio of vacation ownership resorts. All exterior and interior signage, collateral and marketing materials will reflect the Wyndham brand.
'Myrtle Beach has long been a favorite destination of our owners and we're extremely proud to introduce the well-known Wyndham brand to the area,' said Franz Hanning, Wyndham Vacation Ownership president and chief executive officer. 'Carrying the Wyndham name underscores our growth strategy to broaden our timeshare business to a wider audience in South Carolina and throughout the marketplace.'
Opened in July 2003, Wyndham Ocean Boulevard boasts more than 12,000 owners and features 544 condominium-style units. Wyndham at The Cottages opened in June 2003 and boasts more than 1,800 owners. Fairfield Myrtle Beach at Westwinds and Fairfield Myrtle Beach at SeaWatch Plantation will be re-flagged within the next 12 months.
In October 2006, Wyndham Vacation Ownership announced that it would re-brand its industry-leading timeshare companies - Fairfield Resorts, Trendwest Resorts and Trendwest South Pacific - under the Wyndham brand. The re-branding process is anticipated to occur over 12 months.
