Marriott at LA LIVE to Open in Spring 2010
LOS ANGELES, CA, May 12, 2008. The JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles at LA LIVE has reached another milestone with the completion of ten floors and is already changing the shape of the skyline. The hotel, is a key component of the Downtown Los Angeles revitalization project known as L.A. LIVE. It will meet the capacity needs for meeting groups staying downtown and will provide direct access to the Los Angeles Convention Center.
"The development of the L.A. LIVE project, and more importantly, the opening of the JW Marriott at LA LIVE, truly marks the return of Downtown Los Angeles as a viable meeting destination for large groups and annual meetings," said Karen Englund, director of sales and marketing for the property.
Featuring 879 guest rooms, including 35 suites, the JW Marriott at L.A. LIVE will offer Downtown Los Angeles' most efficient meeting facility with more than 77,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. As a focal point of LA LIVE, the hotel will offer its guests access to world-class entertainment, dining, sports, theater and music experiences.
Jack Kyser, vice president and senior economist for the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation said, "The JW Marriott hotel at LA LIVE will put Los Angeles solidly back in the game of attracting major business shows to the area. I've been waiting at least 20 years for this."
When the hotel opens in March 2010, a majority of the LA LIVE project will be completed, which will give guests direct access to:
o STAPLES Center -- Home to five professional sports teams, and the premier venue for musical performances and televised award shows, including the GRAMMY(R) awards.
o NOKIA Theatre LA LIVE -- 7,100-seat venue will be the new home to the ESPY Awards, Emmy(R) Awards and the upcoming American Idol finale shows.
o Club NOKIA -- 2,200-capacity venue will provide space for corporate events and private parties.
o The GRAMMY(R) Museum -- Developed by The Recording Academy (NARAS) and AEG, will pay tribute to music's heritage and cultural history.
o Conga Room -- The legendary venue whose owners include celebrities Jennifer Lopez and Jimmy Smits will relocate from its mid-Wilshire location to LA LIVE.
