DALLAS, TX, October 3, 2008. The Doubletree Dallas - Campbell Centre, a popular Dallas hotel by Northpark Mall, recently played planner and host to a silent auction for the benefit of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Attendees from local area businesses purchased tickets to attend and bid on items from over 50 Dallas organizations and businesses with all proceeds benefiting the JDRF. By the end, $4500 had been raised.

Organizations that donated items to the auction include Ticketmaster, the Texas Rangers, The Art Institute of Dallas, Starbucks, the Frisco Rough Riders, Southern Methodist University, Metro PCS, Lancome Cosmetics, Blue Mesa Grill, and many others. Hot auction items included two VIP tickets to a Dallas Stars hockey game and a pair of Prada sunglasses.

Dolores Johnson, Special Events Manager for the Greater Dallas Chapter of the JDRF, spoke briefly at the auction, thanking the generosity of participating businesses and individuals and highlighting upcoming JDRF events. Among them, Johnson encouraged participation in the "Scoring Points for a Cure" Walk to Cure Diabetes. Held the morning of September 27, 2008, the event saw thousands of walkers at two walk sites, including the prestigious Dallas neighborhood of Victory Park.
