Hospitality Security Leader Attains ZigBee RF-Online Milestone
DALLAS, TX, November 10, 2008. TimeLox(R), the world's leading supplier of ZigBee online electronic locking systems for hotels and resorts, announced today that more than 20,000 hotel guestrooms worldwide are now operating on its wireless radio-frequency (RF) online electronic locking system, DC-One ONLINE. Having introduced the system in 2006, TimeLox surpassed the 20,000 guestroom milestone with the completion of a 3,186-room installation at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas this year.
"Completing this landmark installation at Mandalay Bay reconfirms the fact that DC-One ONLINE is without a doubt the most widespread, proven wireless online locking system installed globally," said Rune Venas, president of ASSA ABLOY Hospitality, Inc. "In addition to being the first security provider worldwide to deploy a large-scale, wireless online system operating on the open ZigBee platform, we're proud to call some of the industry's largest, most respected properties our customers."
Developed by TimeLox in 2004, DC-One ONLINE offers a cost-effective solution for hotels and resorts to facilitate reliable two-way communication from standalone electronic locks to the property's host security and PMS systems. Since its introduction and deployment, the system has been installed in premium-level properties around the globe.
Unlike off-line standalone locks, DC-One ONLINE provides total security control from one central location, utilizing RF-online communication capabilities that eliminate the need to travel to each guestroom to perform tasks such as reprogramming individual locks or identifying and changing low batteries, as well the need for a guest to return to the front desk to change a room or extend his or her stay. By centralizing these functions, hoteliers can expect to increase employee productivity and guest satisfaction. Also, DC-One ONLINE components communicate with multiple rooms at once, reducing the number of network components required for installation when compared to other online technologies.
"One of the really great features of DC-One ONLINE is its communications module, which allows management to define alerts and scheduled events to be e-mailed to individuals and groups. For instance, if a door is left open for a selected time, a security guard can be notified to investigate and close the event on his PDA. Or, a conference room door can be scheduled to be opened at a certain time by the sales office," Venas said. "Now, staff can be mobile AND connected to key events and alerts happening at the property."
Built on the ZigBee Standard ISO 802.15.4 platform - the only wireless, highly-secured and open standards-based platform to address the unique needs of low power monitoring and access-control network applications - DC-One ONLINE provides unsurpassed system reliability and performance at a great value. Operating on a reliable and secure platform like ZigBee also enables smooth interface and integration opportunities for other online devices such as safes, energy management and mini bars.
