JANUARY 8, 2009 - Sweetwater Construction Corp., a New Jersey construction, management and general contracting with established expertise in the hospitality sector, has recently completed a new Homewood Suites by Hilton in East Rutherford, N. J. The hotel is owned by East Rutherford Hotel LLC and managed by HMB Management Inc. based in Allentown, Pa.

Sweetwater, based in Cranbury, N. J., served as general contractor for the 100,000-square-foot project. The seven-story, 126-suite hotel at 125 Route 17 South opened Dec. 4. Located in the heart of the New Jersey Meadowlands, the hotel is just 10 miles from New York City and 13 miles from Newark Liberty International Airport, as well as being close to the Meadowlands Sports Complex.

"The East Rutherford hotel is the second project for Homewood Suites we have done and our 16th hotel project," said Ronald Witt Jr., executive vice president at Sweetwater. "I believe it is evidence of our knowledge, expertise and accountability in the hospitality sector."

Founded 34 years ago as an interior construction firm, Sweetwater has evolved into a company with the capability to execute a variety of construction projects with expertise. In addition to hospitality, Sweetwater specializes in interiors and in the science and technology, healthcare and institutional sectors.

"Sweetwater came highly recommended," said Atul Patel, chief executive officer for HMB Management Inc. "They were very professional and very focused on the priorities. We are very happy with the outcome. They did a great job.

The hotel will eventually employ 40 people."

Homewood Suites by Hilton East Rutherford/Meadowlands offers studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites, as well as six suites equipped with in-room Jacuzzis and five handicapped-accessible suites. Additional amenities include an executive business center, 24-hour on-site pantry, indoor swimming pool, sports court, fitness center, sauna and more than 4,000 square feet of meeting space. The suites features in-room wireless DSL, satellite television, fully equipped kitchens and 37-inch high definition LCD televisions.

The architect for the project was Michels & Waldron Associates of River Vale, N. J.

Launched in 1989, the Homewood Suites by Hilton brand today has more than 250 hotels open with approximately 140 in the development pipeline. The facilities are known for their spacious suites and home-like amenities.
