Acqualina Presents Acquablue
Proximity and Eco-friendly Marketing via Bluetooth
APRIL 09, 2009 - Whether on vacation or traveling on business, people have become accustomed to having technology at their fingertips 24 hours a day. In response to this mobile-technology craze, Acqualina Resort and Spa has developed AcquaBlue, a Bluetooth messaging system that provides guests with daily hotel news and offerings instead of cluttering guestrooms with brochures and advertisements.
Whether in the lobby, lounging by the pool or relaxing at the beach, guests and residents can power on their Bluetooth device and automatically receive hotel entertainment news, events, or any other informational materials of interest. The resort will only send AcquaBlue messages once a day and guests will not accrue any charges, airtime or additional fees. In addition, this service is only accessible while on the resort grounds and is independent of any wireless carrier.
Acqualina Resort and Spa has already implemented the distribution of AcquaBlue messages, which have included information on its all-new Wine Tasting Series, happy hour specials at Aaria Bar and Lounge, Il Mulino's "Lunch on the Pronto" option and ESPA at Acqualina's treatment deal of the week.
Wireless Bluetooth technology also allows for the distribution of content and applications to laptops and any other Bluetooth enabled device. Acqualina has even fine-tuned the Bluetooth antenna to enable location-specific distribution, meaning guests in the lobby might receive different content than guests at the pool or beach.
"This innovative AcquaBlue system opens a new, proximity-based marketing channel to the end user at no cost and engages guests in a unique way," says Deborah Yager-Fleming, Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
The Bluetooth messaging system is built with off-the-shelf hardware, and all five Bluetooth servers are LAN connected and managed exclusively by the in-house IT department. An Anti-SPAM policy has been implemented by using permission-based content only, and around-the-clock scheduling allows for variations in content distribution by time-of-day and day-of-week. Furthermore, detailed reporting provides the marketing department with campaign feedback and the system is ready to be complemented by SMS-based marketing in the future.
