Cooperstown's Otesaga Re-opens for 100th Season April 17th
Historic Property Celebrates Centennial Throughout 2009
COPPERSTOWN, NY, April 14, 2009 - The Otesaga Resort Hotel opens for its 100th season on Friday, April 17th, 2009. When it officially opened to the public in 1909, The Otesaga was called the most "complete and luxurious summer hotel in America." Today, this beloved and historic hotel remains one of the country's most storied landmarks whose very presence is inextricably linked with America's favorite pastime. The Otesaga provides a captivating setting for exploring Cooperstown's famed cultural and educational institutions--the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Fenimore Art Museum, and Farmers' Museum--as well as an array of recreational facilities, including the award-winning Leatherstocking Golf Course.
To celebrate its 100th anniversary, The Otesaga will be offering its guests beverage and dining menus that feature authentic selections from the 1900's, as well as a host of other centennial-themed events and room packages. Highlights include a "Cooperstown Museum Experience Package," "Turn Back the Clock" rate offer, "Unlimited Golf Package," and "100th Anniversary Romantic Overnight Special."
The Cooperstown Museum Experience Package invites guests to discover all three of Cooperstown's cultural institutions and includes:

The package rate is an additional $85 on the regular room price. Room rates start at $425 per night, double occupancy. The Otesaga operates under the Modified American Plan (MAP), which includes dinner and breakfast.
"In keeping with its name, which is derived from the Iroquois word for 'A place of meetings,' The Otesaga has welcomed returning Hall of Famers, celebrities, conventioneers, and tourists for 100 years now," said John Irvin, general manager of The Otesaga. "If there were a Hall of Fame for hotels, The Otesaga would be inducted today."
A member of the prestigious Historic Hotels of America by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and a AAA Four-Diamond hotel, The Otesaga resonates with the charm and gracious hospitality of a bygone era. A magnificent Federal-style edifice with an imposing front portico supported by massive 30-foot columns, The Otesaga occupies 700 feet of lakefront on the southern shore of Lake Otsego, the famed "Glimmerglass" of James Fenimore Cooper's novels.
