ASPEN, CO. November 15, 2006. The Aspen Meadows Resort, a Dolce resort destination and one of Colorado's most luxurious retreats, is announcing the final phase of a major expansion and redo, set for a March 2007 debut. The project consists of guest room renovation, restaurant makeovers and a new conference center to complement the prominent Aspen Institute's meeting facilities and grounds.

"As an architectural landmark from the modernist Bauhaus movement, we worked very hard to preserve the integrity of the Aspen Meadow's historical design in the renovation." stated Robb Walker, the resort's general manager. "The design of our new Doerr-Hosier Center meeting hall incorporates the natural environment with modernism to offer both function and inspiration in a setting unrivaled in Colorado."

The resort's entrance, lobby and reception/bar area also received a beautiful face-lift this year. In addition, all 98 spacious guest suites were redone with new flooring, bedding, furniture, mattresses and LCD flat screen televisions. Each features true Bauhaus-style furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows with river or mountain views, and complimentary wireless Internet access. For evening dining, the new upstairs Plato's restaurant features an eclectic cuisine, Bauhaus-inspired d'ecor and spectacular views of Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk Mountain. Plato's probably has the best view of any restaurant in Aspen! The Meadows dining room and outdoor patio continues to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and has recently been redecorated and updated as well.

The most recent addition on the Aspen Meadows Resort property is the $15 million Doerr-Hosier Center. Architect Jeffrey Berkus, in conjunction with renowned British artist Andy Goldsworthy, created an environmentally responsible design using natural materials and forward-thinking building techniques. Berkus uses water, stone floors, and glass, as demonstrated in the floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, offering beautiful mountain views and natural light. An outdoor fireplace on the central terrace lends a feeling of oneness with nature. The innovative design of this building maintains the Bauhaus contemporary style seen in other structures on the Aspen Meadows grounds with its distinctive open floor plan, while drawing energy from the natural elements and integrating them into the construction of the building. Goldsworthy's sculpture, "Stone River" is seen in and out of the building, incorporating rock and stone both indigenous to the area and from all over the globe. Goldsworthy's snake-like red sandstone sculpture flows like a river through meadow into the building's main space and out the terrace patio overlooking the Roaring Fork River. The Doerr-Hosier Center's use of innovative green technologies, including harnessing geothermal energy, have earned it a coveted Leeds Certification.

The 22,000 square foot Doerr-Hosier Center is divisible into large and small meeting spaces and offers a seating capacity of up to 400, perfect for meetings, weddings, gala dinners and other social events. The new facility also features numerous terraces for outdoor gatherings overlooking the Rocky Mountains, a reflection pool, state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, a room dedicated to the history of the Aspen Institute, an art gallery and a full banquet kitchen. Throughout the conference center, sleek furnishings, light fixtures, artwork and floor-to-ceiling windows all reflect the modernist architecture.

Spread out over 40-acres, the Aspen Meadows Resort is surrounded by the Colorado Rockies, secluded in a natural preserve along the banks of the Roaring Fork River, yet only minutes from historic and chic downtown Aspen. The resort offers 98 spacious suites with incredible views, two restaurants and a lounge. Recreational amenities include a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, fitness center offering massages, Pilates, Yoga and personal trainers, tennis center with Pro-Shop, and bike trails. The resort is also host to guests attending the famous annual Aspen Music Festival and the Aspen Food and Wine Festival. Complimentary shuttle service is offered to and from Aspen Airport, located just five minutes away as well as regular stops in downtown Aspen.
