The Harvest Inn in Napa's Wine Country Names ALfred Matter General Manager

ST. HELENA, CA, November 15, 2005. Harvest Inn, the AAA Four Diamond country estate located in Napa Valley's wine country, announces the appointment of Alfred J. Matter as general manager.

Matter has over 20 years of experience as a general manager, specializing in food and beverage, corporate meetings, and local and international resort locations. Prior to joining Harvest Inn, Matter was a consultant with Hospitality Profit Enhancement, LLC and was previously the general manager at Bishop's Lodge Resort & Spa in Santa Fe, N.M., until March 2005. From 1997 to 2001, Matter was with Swiss^otel Corp. where he was the general manager at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C. and managed the $13 million dollar renovation of the historic hotel. Matter has also held management positions on several corporate projects reporting directly to the President/CEO of Swiss^otel Corp.

From 1991 to 1996, Matter served as general manager with Radisson Hotels Worldwide at The Roosevelt Hotel in New York and previously served as general manager at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Fla. Matter was instrumental in the $70 million renovation at the Roosevelt Hotel in 1996 and managed the day to day operations of the hotel's 1072 rooms during this transition. While with Radisson Hotels Worldwide, Matter also served as hotel manager at the deluxe Radisson Plaza Hotel in Indianapolis, Ind., and food and beverage director at the Radisson Mark Plaza Hotel in Alexandria, VA.

Matter earned a bachelor's degree in hospitality administration from Ecole Hoteliere Lausanne in Switzerland. He is fluent in English, French, German, and Spanish and holds a professional chef apprenticeship in Switzerland. Matter is on the board of directors of the Santa Fe County Lodgers Tax Advisory Board and the New Mexico Lodgers Association. In addition, Matter belongs to SKAL International and Chaine des Rotisseurs.

Matter is a native of Lucerne, Switzerland, and currently resides in St. Helena with his wife Antonieta.
