Jackson-Shaw Taps Mark Hayes as General Manager for North Phoenix Dual-Branded Hotel Ahead of November Opening
North Texas-based developer Jackson-Shaw and Tucson-based Holualoa Companies have named Mark Hayes as General Manager for their dual-branded AC Hotel by Marriott North Phoenix at Norterra and Element by Westin North Phoenix at Norterra. Located at 25100 North 22nd Lane near the northeast corner of West Happy Valley Road and Norterra Parkway, the property is slated to open in November.
"We're proud to welcome industry veteran Mark Hayes as General Manager," said Jackson-Shaw Senior Vice President of Hospitality Management Joe Blewitt. "Most recently, he served as General Manager at the Element by Westin Scottsdale SkySong, which was named Marriott's Hotel of the Year in 2021. Mark is a seasoned hospitality leader, widely recognized for his expertise in business development, fostering a positive employee culture and driving operational excellence."
Sharing a single address, the four-story, dual-branded development will offer a total of 277 high-quality guest rooms. The AC Hotel by Marriott North Phoenix at Norterra will feature 182 rooms with the brand's clean and simple design aesthetic, blending sophisticated European style with a distinct modern feel. Meanwhile, the Element by Westin North Phoenix at Norterra will include 95 rooms, providing the essentials of balanced travel for extended stays without compromising on comfort or design.
"Norterra is an exciting and rapidly growing area in North Phoenix that's an ideal setting for this hotel," said Hayes. "With excellent accessibility via I-17 and Loop 101, a vibrant retail and dining scene at The Shops at Norterra and proximity to major economic drivers like the TSMC semiconductor plant, we see tremendous opportunity to serve both leisure and business travelers in this dynamic market."
The development will offer 8,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, three deluxe suites, and two spacious communal group rooms. Guests will enjoy a state-of-the-art fitness center and a resort-style courtyard featuring a saline pool, heated spa, and event lawn. Spanning three acres, the 160,133-square-foot building is expected to create 60 full-time and 20 part-time jobs.
The hotel is being developed in partnership with Jackson-Shaw and Holualoa Companies. Simmons Bank is providing construction financing, Layton Construction is the general contractor, Cooper Carry is the architect and DiLeonardo is the interior designer.
