Cosmopolitan Toronto Opens

. October 14, 2008

TORONTO, Canada, June 9, 2005. With natural gemstone fountains en suite, 32" plasma screen TVs, a custom meditation channel, air purifiers and balconies to facilitate the flow of oxygen and energy, the new all-suite Cosmopolitan Toronto opens June 8 as an environmentally chic oasis in the heart of the city with introductory rates from $149 CAD per night. As a key element of the transformation from boutique hotel to lifestyle-centered property, Sylvia Noble -- Energy Consultant to the stars (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ron Howard) -- choreographed the flow of energy within each element of the construction and design. Floor to ceiling windows create "light energy," while deep brown and slate features ground the energy and soft blue accents calm the energy. Noble also developed a line of "Gemstone Essence" Shizen Amenities exclusive to the Cosmopolitan. The line, including specialty shampoo, bath gel and foot scrub, captures the energy generated by the actual semi-precious stones used in each of the eight amenities and accessories representing the eight chakras.

Complementing the vision of an urban sanctuary, the Cosmopolitan is discreetly tucked away at 8 Colborne St. just steps from one of the busiest central intersections of downtown -- Yonge and King St. The number eight was chosen for its esoteric energy qualities and is repeated throughout the building's design. As the sister property to Toronto's top-rated Pantages Suites Hotel and Spa, the Cosmopolitan blends age-old eastern philosophy with the best of western technology to suit the needs of the modern traveler.

"The Cosmopolitan was not only created for the trend-driven 20 somethings, but a generation of baby boomers who appreciate the simplicity and tranquility woven into the Cosmopolitan's design," said Gil Blutrich, owner and visionary. "As a frequent traveler, I found myself losing lots of energy in major urban centers, and I always dreamt of a hotel that would allow me to be focused and relaxed, to live outside the stifling walls of a typical hotel."

The serene yet invigorating environment radiates from arrival as guests are greeted by the purified air flowing throughout the Cosmopolitan. After consulting with the Lifestyle Manager on the "purpose" of their stay -- from regaining focus and re-energizing to romance and relaxation, guests receive a guided meditation CD courtesy of The Cosmopolitan Toronto to begin their stay. Along with personally meeting each of the guests, the Lifestyle Manager is on hand to ensure an individualized experience and arrange for transportation around the city in one of the chauffeured hybrid vehicles -- selected in place of limousines.

With only fives suites per floor (97 in total), full kitchens, washer/dryer and 400 thread-count Egyptian cotton linens, a fitness center overlooking the city, free local calls and wireless internet -- guests rest safely in a haven away from home. Sashaying along the hardwood floors in natural bamboo slippers, newly inspired travelers turn on the Cosmopolitan meditation channel and stretch out the in-room meditation mat or step out on their private balcony to take in a sweeping view of Lake Ontario and the Toronto city skyline.

The Cosmopolitan's two penthouses on the 27th floor (including one created by Toronto's new Designer Guys*) inspire a luxury-laden lifestyle with rooftop Jacuzzis, spacious wrap-around balconies and spectacular city and lake views. Cosmopolitan guests return home each evening to a custom turn down service with an additional gemstone left in place of chocolate, softly set Cosmopolitan mood music and guest-selected incense.

For decadent cuisine or to whet the palate, the lobby of the Cosmopolitan extends into the vibrant atmosphere of the lounge of Doku 15, an Asian tapas restaurant and martini bar. Opening mid August, guests are invited to "choose their poison" out of the 15 specialty saki-tinis. For corporate retreats and the executive traveler, the Cosmopolitan contains three boardrooms, Gaya, Chi and Aura in addition to the Home Office (business center).

To further inspire a balanced inner-self, The Cosmopolitan Toronto will feature the Shizen Spa, (opening mid August) blending the latest techniques in acupuncture and holistic philosophy with classic spa treatments. Featuring three, 500-sq.-ft. private treatment rooms, the Shizen Spa is designed to provide a discreet environment where guests enjoy the tranquility of having all treatments, wet and dry, provided en suite. With floor to ceiling glass walls for ambient light, a soothing waterfall, spacious twelve-person Jacuzzi, juice bar, and a custom-designed ecological wall, the Solarium is the epicenter of relaxation - completing the spa experience and entreating the mind and body to begin relaxation upon entry.
