The IH&RA Board of Directors oversees the association's advocacy work to identify threats and to send early warning signals about possible legislation and regulation emanating from international policy making agencies which could affect hotel and restaurant operations and profitability. The Board of Directors also monitors the work of IH&RA's specialized Global Councils which are formed to confront challenges facing hotel and restaurant operators in their day-to-day operations looking at issues such as: e-commerce and e-marketing; human resources and training; crisis and risk management and prevention; food service and corporate social responsibility. This Board of Directors is also instrumental in strengthening IH&RA's strategic partnerships with industry suppliers, educational institutes and the media.

The IH&RA Board of Directors will next meet in person on 9 March 2006 in Berlin, following an 8 March meeting of the IH&RA National Association Chief Executive Council and the IH&RA Chains Council. These meetings will be held at the Maritim Berlin Hotel alongside the International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) and ITB Berlin. On the evening of 8 March 2006, IH&RA, the German Hotels Association (IHA) and Maritim Hotels will host a VIP reception for all IH&RA members and IHIF delegates at the Maritim Berlin Hotel in celebration of the association's 60th Anniversary. These March events will then be followed by the IH&RA 43rd Annual Congress to take place in New Delhi, India in November 2006, preceded by a one-day "Hospitality Educators Forum" for educational institutes and training schools for the industry (dates to be announced shortly).
