Michelangelo Towers Launched in Sandton, Johannesburg

. October 14, 2008

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, December 7, 2005. In an affair as regal as the development itself, the Michelangelo Towers was officially launched on 24th November 2005, a spectacular fitting for the grandeur of the development and its guests. The building was declared open by Bart Dorrestein, Chief Executive Officer of the Legacy Group, in a risqu'e parade of body art reflecting the contemporary real-life Davids. Top emerging and established contemporary South African artists were commissioned to reinterpret the legacy of Michelangelo's David.

Dorrestein describes Legacy's vision as, "Integrating contemporary art into the design and lifestyle of hotel development to create a platform to encourage the hotel industry to look to the talent of South African artists. Legacy wants to ensure that this exhibition pioneers a mutually beneficial relationship between the hotel, business and arts industries."

Since November 2002, commuters to the Sandton Central Business District have been witness to the birth of this new landmark. The Michelangelo Towers has finally usurped Sandton City as the tallest building and in the surrounds of the Sandton Central Business District. Soaring a majestic 146 metres above the ground, the Michelangelo Towers, crowned by its prominent glass and steel dome structure, illuminated at night, destines the Legacy Group development to become a striking architectural icon.

Offering 194 five-star luxury suites of an unparalleled lifestyle with panoramic views of the Magaliesberg and Gauteng skyline, the Michelangelo Towers suites are fully equipped with the latest technology including super-fast wireless internet connectivity, plasma screen television sets and fingerprint access room locks as well as area access control. Guests can enjoy an indoor and outdoor pool and private gymnasium, with direct access to all the lifestyle and entertainment facilities of Nelson Mandela Square and Sandton City.

Legacy Hotels & Resorts International, the managing company, will be marketing the hotel to the top end of the corporate, leisure and relocation segments. First occupation of the suites will be in February 2006. For more information visit www.legacyhotels.co.za.
