Schrager Eyeing Historic NYC Building for Mixed-Use Hotel Project
NEW YORK, NY, December 15, 2005. Ian Schrager is set to make another hotel development splash here in concert with developer Aby Rosen, according to a report that the pair is forming an agreement to convert the former MetLife headquarters at 1 Madison Ave. into a hotel and condominium complex. Not including its common areas, the project will measure about 174,000 square feet
Reportedly selling the property to Schrager and Rosen is SL Green, which acquired the century-old building in March for $918 million. Currently, Credit Suisse First Boston occupies the building.
