EUROPEAN UNION, January 2, 2006. design hotels(tm) is delighted to announce an expanded 2006 portfolio, featuring 11 new members. The portfolio, composed of 137 members in 41 countries now offers an even more colourful palette of destinations and experiences for the independent traveller.

Claus Sendlinger, CEO design hotels AG, comments on what continues to set design hotels(tm) apart from the growing competition: "Design in the hotel business should convey the promise of a unique experience. But the key to a successful design hotel is an original concept that fuses cutting-edge architecture and interior design, personalized service, and individuals who are able to communicate this concept."

The modest growth of this year's portfolio is indicative of the company's rigorous application process during which each candidate hotel is scrutinized for quality and innovation. Current member hotels are also assessed on an ongoing basis.
