$75 million, 336-room, New Construction Hotel
ARLINGTON, VA, January 11, 2006. A sophisticated and relaxing retreat for the senses, The Westin Arlington Gateway, a $75 million, 336-room-upscale hotel, will officially join the bustling Ballston neighborhood of Arlington on March 1, 2006. The hotel's sleek design and commitment to guest rejuvenation will bring refreshing style to the expanding Ballston-Rosslyn corridor of Arlington at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and Glebe Road.
With a soothing color palette and luxurious amenities, The Westin Arlington Gateway promises to entice both business travelers and tourists alike. The hotel will offer unique accessibility to the vibrant Arlington community and a location that is convenient to all our nation's capital has to offer. The 238,700 square foot property is owned by The JBG Companies and managed by Westin Hotels & Resorts, the-upper-upscale brand of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT). Construction began in February, 2004, making The Westin Arlington Gateway the first luxury hotel to be built in Arlington in over 13 years.
An important addition to the Northern Virginia community, The Westin Arlington Gateway will create more than 200 new jobs and stands as the first Westin in Virginia. Other Starwood properties in the Washington, DC metro area include The Westin Embassy Row, The Westin Grand, the Sheraton Crystal City, the Sheraton National, the Sheraton Pentagon South Alexandria, the Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner, the Sheraton Reston, the Sheraton Suites Alexandria, The St. Regis Washington and Four Points by Sheraton Washington D.C. Downtown Hotel.
As the third and final building to be constructed as part of the one million square-foot mixed-use Arlington Gateway development, The Westin Arlington Gateway will join The Continental at Ballston, a 411-unit condominium building finished in September 2003, and the Arlington Gateway, a 325,000 square foot Class-A office building. All three buildings in the complex were designed by the architectural firm of WDG.

The Westin Arlington Gateway will feature four upgraded floors, including the Westin Executive Club; 10,000 square feet of meeting facilities; a 6,800 square foot ballroom; a state-of-the-art business center; Pinzimini, a modern Italian steakhouse; the WestinWORKOUT(R) Powered by Reebok fitness center; an indoor pool with whirlpool; a lobby-level Starbucks(R); high-speed and wireless Internet access; and valet parking.
