Stephen B. Algood Named COO for Personality Hotels
SAN FRANCISCO, CA. January 13, 2006. Personality Hotels, San Francisco's original boutique hotel company, has hired Stephen B. Algood as Chief Operating Officer (COO). In his new position as COO, Algood oversees the overall operations of Personality Hotels' corporate offices and their five boutique hotel properties that include Hotel Diva, Kensington Park Hotel, Hotel Union Square, Hotel Metropolis and the Steinhart Hotel. Among his many professional duties, he is responsible for: future acquisitions and the growth of Personality Hotels; creating and implementing new policies and procedures for all departments; the selection and management of all Personality Hotels' personnel; and establishing and overseeing the operating budget. Algood brings more than 28 years of hospitality industry experience to Personality Hotels, with 23 of those years specifically dedicated to the management, acquisition and development of hotels and resorts. He has served in a myriad of positions for both domestic and international hotel corporations, including Vice President of Operations for Luxe Worldwide Hotels, Regional General Manager of SeaSpan Management Company and Vice President and General Manager of Radisson Hotels. Most recently, Algood was part of the senior management team for Pacific Valley Investors (PVI) based in Belmont, Calif.
Algood has operated a variety of three and four diamond hotel and resort properties throughout Arizona and California, ranging from intimate boutique hotels and luxury resorts and spas to expansive convention hotels. After opening his first hotel in 1984 as an operations manager for Marriott Hotels, Algood furthered his hospitality career by overseeing the opening of seven additional hotels including four Marriott properties, one Hilton property, one Radisson property and one Luxe Worldwide hotel.
Algood has served as an executive board member of many prestigious organizations including the San Mateo County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Carlson Hotels Worldwide, IntraDynamic Systems and the Los Angeles Airport Business Improvement Group. He currently resides in San Francisco.
