Hilton Board Approves Several Key Executive Appointments

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, January 30, 2006. The Board of Directors of Hilton Hotels Corporation has approved the appointments:

  • Robert M. La Forgia to executive vice president and chief financial officer. La Forgia is located in the Beverly Hills World Headquarters office and reports to Stephen F. Bollenbach, co-chairman and chief executive officer.

  • James T. Harvey to executive vice president and chief information officer. He is located in the Memphis office and reports to Matthew J. Hart, president and chief operating officer.

  • David A. Thompson to senior vice president and controller and W. Steven Standefer to senior vice president, tax. Thompson and Standefer are located in the Beverly Hills World Headquarters office and report to Robert M. La Forgia, executive vice president and chief financial officer.

"It is with a special sense of pride that I announce Bob's promotion to executive vice president because he has, in 25 years with Hilton, worked his way up the organization from field level finance to the top financial job in our company," said Bollenbach. "This is, of course, due primarily to Bob's enormous dedication to Hilton but also due to our company's ability to provide unlimited opportunity to our team members. Congratulations, Bob."

La Forgia had previously served as senior vice president and chief financial officer since 2004, and prior to that as senior vice president and controller since 1996. In his tenure with Hilton, La Forgia has also held a variety of finance positions both at the corporate office and in the field.

La Forgia earned his master's of business administration from the Anderson School at UCLA and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Providence College. He is a member of the Financial Executives Institute, the National Association of Corporate Directors and recently served on the board of directors of the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation CA*AZ*NV Chapter.

"We are confident that Tim will successfully lead the charge to install our propriety Hilton OnQ technology worldwide upon completion of our acquisition of Hilton International."

Harvey previously served as senior vice president and chief information officer. He joined Hilton when it acquired Promus Hotel Corporation in 1999. He is a 25-year veteran of the hospitality industry. Harvey earned a bachelor of business administration degree from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi and a masters of business administration in management from the University of Memphis. He is a member of the Management Information Systems and The Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management Advisory Boards for the University of Memphis and serves on the Delta State University Foundation Board of Directors.

"Both David and Steve are technically proficient finance professionals with demonstrated strong leadership skills," said La Forgia. "They have done an outstanding job of working through complex issues surrounding our pending acquisition of Hilton International, and we are confident that each will add significant value to the newly-combined company in the future."

Thompson, an 11-year Hilton employee, earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Southern California and is a Certified Public Accountant. He worked for a large public accounting firm for eight years prior to joining Hilton.

Standefer joined the hospitality industry in 1995. He worked for Promus Corporation in 1999 when it was purchased by Hilton. He earned his bachelor of science degree in accounting from Arizona State University, is a Certified Public Accountant and spent six years working for large accounting firms prior to working for Hilton.
