American's Vote for Jamaica

. October 14, 2008

JAMAICA, February 2, 2006. More Americans say they intend to visit Jamaica this winter, according to a recent survey of more than 1,000 customers done by travel site, Expedia.com.

When asked about their New Year's resolutions, 32 percent of the Expedia customers surveyed vowed to travel more in 2006 and the top ten destinations included Jamaica, which came in as the top Caribbean destination at number seven, behind the U.S. destinations of Las Vegas, Orlando, New York, Hawaii, and France. According to Expedia, more than 35 percent of their customers surveyed say that they are seeking a beach/sun getaway to places like the Caribbean in early 2006.

"The results of Expedia's survey reinforce our strong outlook for winter 2006 which has already shown an impressive number of visitor arrivals," said Paul Pennicook, Director of Tourism, Jamaica Tourist Board.

"We are proud to see that Jamaica continues to be a favorite for American travellers, who are seeking not just sun, sand and sea, but a travel experience rich in diverse culture, cuisine, adventure and natural beauty."
