Re-Establishing Monaco as Europe's Boxing Destination

Les Casinos De Monte-Carlo Present the Monte-Carlo Boxing Masters II Salles Des Etoilles, March 18

. October 14, 2008

MONTE CARLO, February 22, 2006. Following the success of the first event in July 2005, boxing returns to Monte-Carlo with another remarkable evening on 18 March 2006, renewing a sporting tradition which has been linked to the Principality for hundreds of years and positioning it once again as one of Europe's most spectacular boxing destinations.

Historically, Monaco is recognizable for some of the most legendary boxing matches of the twentieth century with Camille Blanc - son and successor of the founder of the Soci'et'e des Bains de Mer - having organized some of the industry's most celebrated world-class boxing matches as far back as 1912 (namely Carpentier vs. Grudhoven in 1920 and Monzon vs. Benvenuti in 1971).

Last July, after an absence of more than 10 years, the Monte-Carlo Casinos hosted an international boxing event in association with World Sports Promotions and Fight Academy Limited. March's highly prestigious event will feature world-famous boxers from several federations, notably the I.B.O. and W.B.A, and will take place in the fantastic setting of the Salle des Etoiles. The soir'ee will feature eight fights and spectators will end the evening by enjoying a complimentary cocktail in the bars of the Casinos de Monte-Carlo (Casino Caf'e de Paris, Sun Casino, Casino de Monte-Carlo Bay Casino).

The Soci'et'e des Bains de Mer invites you to join the excitement of the Monte-Carlo Boxing Masters 11 by offering a special package to its hotels.

Notes to editors:

Boxing Masters 11 - order of events:

The first match will see Roman Greenberg - born in Russia, raised in Israel, trained in England, unbeaten in 21 fights - fight Russian, Alexander Vassilev, for the International I.B.O. Matthew Hatton - younger brother of British world champion Ricky Hatton - will then fight Belorussian, Alexandr Zhuk, in the Super Welterweight category. And in another promising fight, spectators will witness 8 rounds between the Italian, Alfredo Di Feto, and Ukrainian, Sergei Fedchenko - both unbeaten to date. Most exciting of the evening's events is the previously unseen fight between super featherweights XiaYu Qin from China and Frenchman Fr'ed'eric Gosset. It will be the first time a professional Chinese boxer fights in Europe.

The Soci'et'e des Bains de Mer:

The Soci'et'e des Bains de Mer (SBM) was established in 1863 by Prince Charles III of Monaco. Today, the SBM is a unique, luxury resort, offering the very best of Monte-Carlo, from five star hotel accommodation to Michelin star cuisine, sport and leisure facilities to entertainment. The SBM currently offers an unrivalled choice of five luxury hotels and entertainment within the Principality including an opera house, a casino, golf courses and tennis courts, 23 restaurants, with a total of six Michelin stars, and one of the best spa facilities in the world.
