Best Western Kicks Off 60th Anniversary Celebration with 1946 Room Rate Promotion

. October 14, 2008

PHOENIX, AZ, March 2, 2006. Best Western International, the world's largest hotel chain, will launch its year-long 60th Anniversary celebration with a one-night promotion in March offering guests the chance to stay at the original 1946 room rate.

On Wednesday, March 29 only, hundreds of travelers staying at Best Western properties across North America will find a commemorative 60th Anniversary card under their pillows, awarding them with the special $5.40 room rate -- the approximate value of overnight accommodations six decades ago, when the company got its start. Participating Best Western hotels throughout the United States and Canada will place a single collectible card in at least one guest room. The lucky winners will wake up on March 30 to a bill totaling less than today's average hotel room tax.

"Best Western's past, present and future is grounded in our commitment to providing quality customer care, and to the millions of guests who have made us their 'home away from home' since 1946," said Dorothy Dowling, senior vice president of marketing for Best Western International. "As we commemorate our 60th Anniversary, we look forward to bringing a variety of unique programs to our loyal customers throughout the year, beginning with this special room rate promotion."
