. October 14, 2008

BANGKOK, Thailand, March 20, 2006. International SPA Association Chairman Kate Mearns will lead key decision makers from Asia and around the world during the opening of ISPA 2006 Thailand International Spa & Wellness Conference and Exhibition.

This event will take place at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from May 3-5, 2006 with the theme "The Best of The East", hosted by the Ministry of Industry Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ISMED) together with Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). "With 3,800 visitors to ISPA in Singapore last year, the 2006 event in Thailand offers an incredible opportunity for education and networking. ISPA 2006 will attract the key industry decision-makers from Asia, as well as around the world," says Kate Mearns, Chairman of the US-based International SPA Association (ISPA).

"In its eighth year, this ISPA event in Asia is a well-respected and reputable event. The Conference offers comprehensive education from the spa industry's leading professionals. Additionally, with this year's Conference being held in Thailand, attendees will receive the added benefit of experiencing the unique culture of the country's spas," she further remarked.

Thailand is positioning itself as the Spa and Wellness Capital of Asia and expects some 120 exhibitors from over 10 countries, occupying 4650 square meters exhibit space. At ISPA 2006, delegates are expected to see the latest developments and trends in spa, health, beauty & spa equipment and accessories.

"One unique selling point for Thai spas is that of capitalizing on their natural environment. As spa-goers are increasingly looking for customized spa experiences, Thai spas can emphasize local and indigenous ingredients in treatments and products they offer as well as highlight the unique architecture of the area. Additionally, through supporting the traditions of native cultures, Thai spas can offer guests an once-in-a-lifetime experience," says ISPA Chairman Mearns on her insight about Thai Spa.

The ISPA Chairman made an invitation to the Thai Spa Industry by saying, "We definitely encourage local spa operators to participate in the ISPA 2006 Thailand. In nearly all industries, though particularly the spa industry, success is built on relationships. For Asian spa professionals, there simply is no better opportunity of the year to meet key players and learn the newest information on the industry than the annual ISPA Asia Conference and Exhibition."

"The future of the spa industry is very positive, and therefore growing rapidly. However, it's critical that all spa professionals work together to offer the most professional experience possible to their guests. This will help us sustain our industry. The key business benefits to attending the ISPA 2006 Thailand are education and networking. There simply is no better opportunity of the year to see the newest products and treatments, meet leading spa professionals and learn the newest information on the industry," she commented on inviting both business delegates and visitors to the event.

The ISPA Chairman will lead the opening of the ISPA 2006 Thailand Conference by providing the keynote on Industry Updates. Ms. Mearns will also lead the ISPA Roundtable Discussion on the opening of the second day.

When asked what she looks forward the most into coming to Thailand, "I will come over to Thailand to experience the spas, embrace the culture and meet the people. This, to me, is one of the best parts of being Chairman of ISPA. I will enjoy my time seeing old friends and meeting new people, in both a professional and personal capacity. Plus, I can't wait to enjoy the food!" she concluded.

ISPA 2006 Thalland is supported by the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Ministry of Commerce, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Airways International and Federation of Thai Spa.
