Waldorf-Astoria Increases Retail Space 60%
NEW YORK, NY, April 17, 2006. As owners seek new ways to generate more income from their real estate, venerable hotels like the Waldorf-Astoria here are increasing their lobby retail space significantly.
At The Waldorf, the square footage allotted to retail is increasing 60%. The first addition is a shop that will offer a signature line of logo merchandise, which previously had only been available through the Internet or a print catalogue.
The space involved had previously been used for either storage or offices.
