. October 14, 2008

SAN DIEGO, CA, April 26, 2006. The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau (ConVis), the official travel resource for the San Diego region, today announced the appointment of David Peckinpaugh as its new president & CEO. A veteran sales and marketing executive with an extensive background in the hotel sector, Peckinpaugh succeeds longtime ConVis head Reint Reinders, who will retire from the bureau next month following a successful 15-year tenure at the helm of the organization.

Peckinpaugh, 48, was formerly the Chief Marketing Officer for Ohio based Conferon Global Services (CGS), the nation's leading meeting planning and event services company. Prior to his high-level leadership role with CGS, Peckinpaugh's industry experience has included senior management positions with several hotels, including two properties in San Diego County: La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad (1986-1987) and the Hyatt Regency San Diego, now the Manchester Grand Hyatt (1993-1995).

"David brings to the bureau an ideal combination of visitor industry knowledge, management skills and marketing expertise," said ConVis Board Chairman Ray Warren.

"David has worked in San Diego twice before and has a real passion for our community. He believes in the San Diego brand and is a consummate promoter," Warren added.

Peckinpaugh, who holds a bachelor's degree in history and economics from The Colorado College, has a track record of superior performance in strategic business development, technology adoption, sales and marketing and organizational management practices. "I am truly excited to return to San Diego and to represent what is without a doubt the finest destination in North America," said Peckinpaugh. "I look forward to working with the leading bureau staff in the country and to building on what they, under the leadership of Reint Reinders, have established over the past many years."

Peckinpaugh, who will begin his tenure with the bureau June 5, is relocating to San Diego from Hudson, Ohio with his wife Jill and two children, Max, age 6 and Samie, age 9.
