GLEN COVE, NY, May 9, 2006. Benchmark's Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center launched 'Operation Clean Up ' along Lattingtown and East Beach Roads in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York, during their recent recognition of Earth Day.

As part of Benchmark's "Hometown Hospitality Caring for our Communities" program, a national outreach initiative, 15 employees hit the roads armed with grappler sticks, trash bags and enthusiasm, scouring the area clean of trash and debris.

"We at Benchmark are just thrilled to be a part of the Glen Cove community and caretakers of this historic treasure, which means so much to the past, present and the future of the Glen Cove area and Long Island's Gold Coast," said Sean McLaughlin, Benchmark's general manager for Glen Cove Mansion. "What better way to express this than to help clean and beautify the access roads leading up to another of the community's treasures, the beach. To include this as our Earth Day observance seemed the perfect thing to do."

After four hours and many aching muscles, 40 trash bags (about ten cubic yards) were filled to capacity and properly disposed of. What remains are pristine roads extending up to scenic Pryibil Beach, which is now ready to welcome the community to safely enjoy its beauty in the coming days of summer.
