Walter Cronkite, Ken Dychtwald to Keynote at NIC Conference
16TH Annual Conference on September 27-29 in Chicago
ANNAPOLIS, MD, June 1, 2006. Walter Cronkite, world-renown CBS anchorman, and Dr. Ken Dychtwald, lifestyle visionary and author, will be the featured plenary speakers at the 16th Annual Conference of the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industry (NIC). The annual conference - recognized as the industry's top networking and dealmaking event between owners, operators and developers, and the financiers who service seniors housing and care -- will take place at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in Chicago, Ill., on Sept. 27-29, 2006.
On Thursday morning, Sept. 28, conference attendees will be treated to "A Conversation with Walter Cronkite." The celebrated CBS anchorman and news correspondent covered virtually every major news event during his more than 60 years in journalism.
His accomplishments include exclusive interviews with most major heads of state, including all U.S. presidents since Harry S. Truman, and coverage of all aspects of the American political scene since 1952 such as, the events surrounding the siege of the American embassy in Iran and the holding of the American hostages, Watergate and the subsequent resignation of President Nixon, the assassinations and funerals of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and President John F. Kennedy, and the Vietnam War.
Cronkite also came to be regarded as an authority on America's space program, reporting on the first two decades of this country's manned space mission from Alan B. Shepard's first flight in 1961 to the fall of Skylab in July 1979. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and citations for his journalistic achievements, including several Emmys, and was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in January 1981 by President Jimmy Carter.
Because of the interview-style format, NIC will also be able to pose questions important to attendees, such as: How does Mr. Cronkite feel about the impact of aging demographics on American society? How does he view societal attitudes toward aging and the elderly? What are his opinions of seniors housing? What is his view of Washington's response to the challenges of our aging society? And what has he learned from his years of interviewing the world's top leaders that could be helpful for our current state of affairs? Attendees will have the chance to hear the answers from one of the best journalists of our time.
Also on Thursday, conference-goers will hear from Dr. Ken Dychtwald, author of the best-selling books, Age Wave and Age Power, who will be the keynote speaker at lunch. An engaging presenter, Dr. Dychtwald is considered one of the nation's foremost visionaries on lifestyle, marketing and workforce implications as it relates to the aging population. He will discuss the senior customer of today and tomorrow, as well as give his suggestions on how to integrate customer expectations into the design of new service-delivery models for seniors housing and care.
This year's NIC conference theme is "Making Smart Investments in a Dynamic Market: Integrating Customer Expectations, Quality Care & Competitive Capital." The general registration fee is $1600. Operators are entitled to discounted rates of $1200 (for those with 11 or more properties) or $1000 (for those with 10 or fewer properties).
