Sheraton Seattle GM Terry Botten Announces Retirement
New GM Keri Robinson, Brings Strong Background to Sheraton's New Expansion
SEATTLE, WA, June 1, 2006. Terry Botten, a 27-year veteran of the hotel industry, has announced his official retirement as general manager of the Sheraton Seattle Hotel. Botten will be succeeded by Keri Robinson, former general manager of The Westin Pasadena. Botten's last day will be June 16, 2006.
"It's been a global education and one that most people don't have the opportunity to experience," said Terry Botten. "I'm leaving knowing that the Sheraton Seattle and the Emerald City are poised for great things resulting from the expansion of the hotel. Overall, it's been a fabulous adventure".
Botten brought both national and international executive management experience to the Sheraton Seattle, and has had a major impact on the hotel industry in Seattle. Under his watch, the $130 million addition and enhancement to the existing Sheraton Seattle property commenced on August 1st, 2005. Prior to the Sheraton Seattle, Botten worked for Four Season Hotels and Canada Pacific Hotels (now Fairmont). He has moved a total of twelve times working in Canada, U.S. and Australia in various marketing and sales positions at both the hotel and corporate level.
Along with his in-house hotel background, Botten served as vice president, director of marketing for both the franchise and North America-East divisions of the ITT Sheraton Corporation in New York and Boston. Upon Botten's retirement, he is planning to return to the Thousand Islands in the St. Lawrence River, Canada, to spend time with his family and grandchildren.
Keri Robinson, who has been named the new general manager of Sheraton Seattle Hotel, brings with her an impressive background and great deal of expertise. Beyond the every day management of a hotel, Robinson has previously led major renovations at The Westin Pasadena and the Sheraton Cerritos. Robinson has also been part of many corporate initiatives for Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

Prior to the The Westin Pasadena and Sheraton Cerritos, Robinson was the director of franchise and operations in the western region for Starwood's franchise division. In this position, Robinson was the liaison between Sheraton and Starwood and the general managers and owners of 35 franchised hotels. Robinson graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Administration and hails from Portland, Oregon.
The 838-room Sheraton Seattle, recipient of Meetings and Conventions Gold Key Award, is located at 1400 Sixth Avenue in downtown Seattle. The hotel's current $130 million expansion project includes the construction of the new, 25-story Union Street Tower (415 additional guestrooms) and extensive upgrades to the hotel's meeting facilities that will provide the Sheraton Seattle with a total of 47 meeting rooms and an additional 31,000 square feet of new meeting space for a total of 75,000 square feet. The project is estimated to be complete in spring 2007.
