Sterling Promotes Wampler to COO, Resorts Division
PLANO, TX, June 27, 2006. The Sterling Companies announced today the promotion of Ken Wampler to chief operating officer of its resorts division. Wampler, a 22-year veteran of the hospitality industry, most recently served as Sterling Companies vice president of business development. He joined the company in 2002 as director of resort operations.
"Ken has been an integral part of the growth and advancement of our resorts division during the past few years," said Sterling Companies CEO Jim Olin. "His vast resort operations experience coupled with his talent within the business development arena has consistently led to increased market share and an ever expanding membership and customer base for Sterling in Northwest Florida, Alabama and Mississippi."
As chief operating officer for Sterling's resorts division, Wampler will oversee current and future resort operations as well as marketing efforts. Currently, Sterling Resorts vacation rental portfolio includes 1,050 units and is expected to grow to more than 5,000 by 2010.
During his four years with The Sterling Companies, Wampler has played a key role in growing Sterling's rental portfolio from 200 units to its present state. In addition, he has been a leading force in consolidating marketing and advertising efforts for the company.
Prior to joining The Sterling Companies, he served as resort operations manager for Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge and lodging manager with Amelia Island Plantation. In addition to his vast resort management experience, Wampler holds a master's of business administration from the University of North Florida and a bachelor's degree from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
