Seychelles in Spotlight at the RAC
DECEMBER 15, 2006. Seychelles was front and centre at the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) in the UK recently - fresh off of a productive week at the World Travel Market - with the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) co-hosting a special paying event for members of the club.
The special Seychelles evening was organized by the Seychelles Tourism Board and its London office in an effort to bring the sounds, tastes, and ambience of the islands to RAC members.
The black-tie evening featured an authentic Creole dinner, with music and traditional entertainment, including traditional Seychellois dance lessons provided by the popular band Sokwe.
The RAC boasts an impressive membership of 15,000 that includes Royal Family - among them Queen Elizabeth II, who celebrated her birthday at the club earlier this year - as well as Members of Parliament, company CEOs and other prominent, up-market clientele that would easily consider Seychelles for their holidays.
STB's chairman and CEO, Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, addressed the participants about Seychelles and all that it can offer holidaymakers, and prizes were given out during the evening included a trip to Seychelles and a Michael Adams painting.
The groundwork for the RAC evening was laid earlier in the year, when the head chef for the club was flown out to Seychelles to experience Creole cuisine first-hand, with the aid of some of the country's most prominent local chefs.
