Darr Heads HR for Shangri-La
AUGUST 21, 2006. Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has appointed Alan Darr as director of corporate HR services.
Mr. Darr is responsible for corporate recruitment as well as field human resources operations. With this strategic appointment, Mr. Darr's background in personnel management in both Europe and the United States will strengthen the group's human resources expertise in preparation for its Europe and North America expansion.
Mr. Darr is veteran human resources professional with over 13 years management experience. Prior to joining Shangri-La, he was interim HR manager of Genworth Financial in London.
During five years previously, he was HR manager for InterContinental Hotel Group in its regional offices in the US and Europe.
He is a certified instructor in Behavioural Interviewing and Targetted Selection Interviewing and holds a Master of Science Degree in Human Resources from Central Michigan University in his native United States.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has also been nominated this year for a World Travel Award as World's Leading Hotel Brand.
