Blue Horizons Garden Resort, Grenada, Reports 75% Occupancy After Re-opening Last Month

. October 14, 2008

GRENADA (Aug. 4, 2005) - Following a $1.5 million refurbishment project and re-opening in early July, Blue Horizons Garden Resort in Grenada is pleased to report an average occupancy of 75 percent through mid-August.

Bookings are coming in at a steady pace, and resort officials have a very positive outlook regarding reservations for the remainder of the year. Blue Horizons had been closed since September 2004 following damages sustained from Hurricane Ivan.

"We're extremely excited to be back in the business of welcoming guests to our charming, informal property, which is an ideal and affordable vacation getaway for adventure travelers, families, couples and leisure vacationers," said Arnold Hopkin, owner/manager of the 32-room Blue Horizons Garden Resort. "We're quite impressed with the level of bookings from the U.S. and the U.K., in particular, in such a short period of time, so we're confident business will continue to grow throughout the year," Hopkin added.

Following is a recap of the refurbishment project that was completed before the resort re-opened:

All 32 cottages have been painted. Cottage exteriors now boast a cream silk exterior with herb green-colored roofs. Interiors feature a mellowed ivory with a guacamole shade in the bedroom to accentuate the new bed headboards. Window details are painted golden tan, and the handrails are eucalyptus green. This color scheme is featured throughout the entire property. All bathrooms, including the floors, have been retiled, and new bathtubs, showers, energy-saving toilets and solar heaters have been installed. All 32 rooms have been outfitted with new beds and furniture, including sofas, drapery, rugs, televisions, stoves, refrigerators and other miscellaneous items. The pool bar, barbecue stand, and pool lounge have been completely repainted and renovated.

The front office is completely renovated and repainted. Colonial French sliding doors have been installed. For added attraction and to further enhance the front of the property, a lily pond has been created using an eighteen century copper and a variety of local flora and fauna have been planted. (A copper is a large circular iron/metal container, between 40 - 80 inches in diameter. It was used on the sugar cane plantation primarily to boil the sugar cane juice which was the first stage of the production of sugar).

La Belle Creole, the resort's top-class restaurant, has been completely refurbished.

Blue Horizons contracted Florida-based Kobi Karb Architecture and Interior Design, Inc. for the refurbishment project.

Blue Horizons is located four miles north of the airport and less than five miles from the capital city of St. George's.
