St. Lucia Appoints Tourism Minister
DECEMBER 19, 2006. St. Lucia's is appointing Allen Chastanet as its new minister of tourism.
Chastanet, managing director of two Coco Resorts properties in St. Lucia, will be sworn in on December 19, assuming the post under John Compton, prime minister of St. Lucia.
As tourism minister, Chastanet automatically becomes the chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization, a post made vacant when the former tourism minister, Phillip Pierre, lost that position when Kenny Anthony was defeated by Compton in St. Lucia's recent elections.
Chastanet was St. Lucia's minister of tourism in the early 1990s, serving under Compton.
