ROCKVILLE, MD, December 21, 2009 - Jonathan Nehmer + Associates (JN+A), an international hospitality Architecture and Project Management firm, and HVScompass Design, an international hospitality Interior Design firm, announced the opening of the new Hilton Richmond Hotel and Spa in Richmond, Virginia. Architecture and Interior Design services were provided by JN+A and HVScompass.

During a time of rebirth for the city of Richmond, with renovations to City Center, Capital Square, and the development of the River District and Historic Broad Street, JN+A and HVScompass pulled inspiration for the hotel from the Italian Renaissance. The team incorporated classical Renaissance architectural and interior design elements throughout the hotel.

The public spaces feature neutral, serene colors and varying textures to create a canvas for bouncing, flickering light. Accent shades of blue are intermingled throughout the fabrics and artwork. Arched doorways, natural stone, pilasters, and backlit crown molding exemplify classical elements through the space. Guests are drawn deeper into the hotel by the rich, inviting colors accenting in the corridors. The feel and qualities of the lobby flow through the hotel's 33,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. A large, backlit dome is the central focal point of the ballroom, and the perimeters of the ballroom are adorned with layers of molding and accent lighting.

The atmosphere established in the public spaces is carried throughout the hotel's 251 guestrooms and suites. The rooms greet guests with a relaxing, natural design scheme. The modern design showcases a luxurious bed embraced by an oversized, upholstered headboard, as well as classic, upgraded molding. Wall decor featuring artistic black and white foliage imagery brings outdoor elements into the room. This tranquil, calming environment is also found in the guest bathrooms through warm tones and soothing, green glass tile in the shower and bathtub.

The Richmond Hilton Hotel & Spa is also home to the Aura Day Spa and Shula's Restaurant. Adjacent to the upscale Short Pump Town Center retail and entertainment complex, the hotel is owned and managed by Shamin Hotels.
