From East To West - 2 New Canadian Lodges

. October 14, 2008

MONTREAL, Quebec, Agust 5, 2005. The Soci'et'e des 'etablissements de plein air du Qu'ebec (S'epaq) announces the opening, on December 26th of this year, of Chic-Chocs Mountain Lodge, built on the breathtaking territory of R'eserve faunique de Matane.

This unique project (which draws inspiration from eco-lodge principles) is situated at an altitude of 615 metres at the heart of the Chic-Chocs Mountains. The first of its kind in eastern North America, the Lodge offers both a much-needed break from the worries of day-to-day life and a warm welcome in a total comfort setting.

A maximum of 36 guests will have the privilege of sharing the Auberge's facilities during their stay at the heart of this natural wonderland: two summits exceeding 1000 m, presence of Qu'ebec's three large cervids, exceptional snow conditions. In winter, guests will be able to explore the territory on snowshoes or alpine touring skis, while hiking, mountain biking and fly fishing will be the main activities offered during the summer season.

Alain Laflamme, a true nature lover and former chef of the renowned restaurants of the Queen Elizabeth Hotel and Ch^ateau Bonne Entente, will assume the role of inn-keeper and executive chef. The Auberge's menu will feature culinary dishes based on classic recipes and inspirations of the day. Employing only the finest ingredients from both here and abroad, the Auberge's restaurant services seek to offer guests a gastronomical experience that is above all both friendly and warm. A team of seasoned guides will help visitors discover the territory in a safe setting.

Chartered flights from Montr'eal and Qu'ebec will be offered from December 26, 2005 to April 17, 2006, every Monday and Friday. Guests will be picked up at Cap-Chat. A minibus and a caterpillar-track minibus (in winter) will be used to transfer guests to the Lodge. For more information, visit the web site at www.chicchocs.com

WOLF LODGE AT DESOLATION SOUND WILL OPEN SPRING 2006

Wolf Lodge at Desolation Sound is a brand new lodge located on the pristine waterfront of British Columbia's southern coast. Accommodations at the lodge will consist of a main lodge and six cabins, all constructed from Pacific cedar timbers. Within the 5,000-square-foot main lodge there will be a full-service restaurant and lounge. All of the cabins at this resort will include hot tubs, fireplaces, ocean views and beach access. Both the accommodations and restaurant have unobstructed views of spectacular sunsets and East Redonda Island, a biological reserve.

Rebane Lodge is the centrepiece and will have six hotel-room-style accommodations, each with ocean views, a mini bar and deluxe furniture. These rooms are perfect for two adults and up to one child.

As well, Wolf Lodge at Desolation Sound will have six cedar-built cabins, three luxury and three loft-style. The luxury cabins will be appointed with two standard bedrooms, a loft bedroom and a large sitting area with a mini bar and deluxe furniture. Outside, each cabin will feature a hot tub on a private deck. Luxury cabins are suitable for up to six people. The loft-style cabins will feature a sitting area with a mini-bar and deluxe furniture and, like the luxury cabins, each will include a hot tub on a private deck. These cabins accommodate up to four people.

Desolation Sound is a marine park, and thus offers a range of outdoor activities in a protected environment. Sheltered from the ocean currents and prevailing winds, the sound provides unusually warm water in the summer, making conditions for swimming and diving ideal. Divers will appreciate viewing rich marine life, such as sun stars, star fish, crabs, kelp, and anemones.

In addition, sportfishing is a popular pasttime in the Desolation Sound. A valid B.C. fishing license is required for those hoping to try their luck fishing either in the tidal waters or in the freshwater lakes of the park. Guests can also fish from one of the lodge's custom 20-foot, double-hulled aluminum boats. Sea kayaking amongst the matchless scenery, calm protected waters and sea and shore wildlife is another popular activity, and can be achieved either with a guide or on your own. Grizzly bear viewing is one of the most popular activities in the area, with guests able to glimpse these big bears in nearby estuaries and along the shoreline.

While at the lodge, guests will be able to take a heli-hiking tour, which includes a picnic lunch, a drop-in at a ghost town for a bit of coastal history, a swim in a glacier-fed lake and views of dozens of waterfalls. Or, try a hiking excursion with refreshing lake swims as a reward at the end of the trek along trails at Teakerne Arm and Roscoe Bay.

Wolf Lodge at Desolation Sound is nestled on B.C.'s south coast in the Homfray Channel, a coastal area just southeast of Toba Inlet. This location provides a unique experience for those who wish to soak up the true atmosphere of the Pacific Ocean in one of B.C.'s most untouched settings.

Desolation Sound is B.C.'s largest marine park and can be found near Lund, approximately 145 km (90 mi) north of Vancouver. While the park's name conjures up thoughts of a barren wasteland, over 60 km (37 mi) of shoreline and a selection of coves, bays, islands, forested hiking trails and more prove that this is far from the truth. The area offers a varied and unique topography that abounds with wildlife such as dolphins, seals, whales, sheep, elk, eagles, black bears and grizzly bears.
