Leela Palace in Udaipur Offers Winter Package
MUMBAI, India, January 26, 2010 - The latest luxury hotel to debut in seven years in Udaipur, that iconic city on a lake in India's Rajasthan, has announced a package for the winter. From now through April 15, 2010, The Leela Palace Kempinski Udaipur, one of six 5-star properties of The Leela Palaces Hotels & Resorts, is offering the “Royal Splendor” package for $550 (25,500 INR) per night which includes accommodations for two in a Lake View room, daily breakfast and dinner for two in The Dining Room, roundtrip airport transfers, welcome drink, daily fruit basket and applicable taxes.
Set on the banks of beautiful Lake Pichola and offering captivating views of this romantic heritage city and the surrounding Aravili Mountains, The Leela Palace Kempinski Udaipur is a palatial modern showpiece. The five-star property has 80 luxurious rooms and suites, two restaurants, a lounge and bar and - opening in February 2010 - ESPA at The Leela. Housed in nine spa tents set amidst the hotel's gardens, India's first ESPA will offer all the traditional treatments as well as Ayurvedic therapies. A fitness center comes equipped with steam rooms, all the latest equipment and personal trainers. Daily yoga classes are also offered.
Inspired by the art and architecture of Rajasthan, renowned architect Bill Bensley and interior designer Jeffrey Wilkes crowned the roof with huge domes and decorated doors with corbel arches. The interior courtyard is embellished with mosaics of peacocks and the Tree of Life. Inside, shimmering light reflects off the thikri, the traditional Mewari mosaics of mirrors, enhancing the Rajasthani ambiance.
The long swimming pool lies between flowering guava trees and fragrant landscaped gardens. Guest rooms - all with views of Lake Pichola - measure an average 580 square feet. The design is contemporary with traditional elements of Rajasthani artistry. Exquisite fabrics are embroidered with regally-inspired designs and carved wood furniture has mother of pearl inlays and brass tarkashi work. The eight elegant suites measure between 974 to 1,286 square feet. The opulent Maharaja Suite, an impressive 3,617 square feet, has its own dining room and study, a private pool, a Jacuzzi and its own massage room.
The Dining Room, with Executive Chef Karim Hassene at the helm, is open 24 hours a day and offers an extensive menu prepared with fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables from The Leela Palace's organic garden. Sheesh Mahal, the Leela's rooftop restaurant, is now open and guests can dine under the stars on recipes from the royal kitchens of India.
“I call our first palace hotel in Rajasthan the 'Jewel by the Lake,' explains Captain C. P. Krishnan Nair, Chairman of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts. “The designers have captured the grandeur of Udaipur's architectural heritage and romantic past.”
