Magnolia Unveils Renovation of The La Salle Hotel

. March 31, 2010

March 30, 2010 - The new La Salle Hotel by Magnolia Hotels unveiled its renovation on Friday, which enhanced guest rooms and public space while retaining the character and charm of the historic hotel. Royce Hickman, president and chief executive officer of the Bryan College Station Chamber of Commerce led the unveiling and ribbon cutting ceremony in conjunction with Magnolia Hotels' President Leigh Hitz, Bryan Mayor Mark Conlee and City Manager David Watkins.

Magnolia Hotels, a Denver-based hotel management and development company, took over the management of the historic property in October 2009 and immediately oversaw the renovation project. Decor in each guest room was enhanced with a new Magnolia bedding package, flat-screen televisions, fresh paint and modern lighting to complement the executive work desks. New flooring was added to the lobby along with leather furniture, rich woven fabrics of fuchsia, red, pink, lime green and blue which complement the setting. Historical artwork by local artists now graces the walls of the entrance of the lobby.

The property also expanded the lobby lounge to create new intimate conversation areas surrounded by leathers, warm woods and modern art. Wood floors were added to the Club Room along with new lighting and a feature wall behind the bar with a lime green European finish with metal accents. Modern art and green velvet fabrics accent the lobby and club area.

“Magnolia Hotels is known for preserving historic buildings by making contemporary enhancements to meet the needs of today's sophisticated traveler,” said Hitz. “We've been successful in doing this in Denver, Omaha, Houston and Dallas and now we are excited to reintroduce La Salle Hotel by Magnolia Hotels. We believe these enhancements along with the exceptional customer service that our associates deliver will be a great addition to this historic property and the historic area in which it's located.”

LaSalle Hotel by Magnolia Hotels is a 55-room property, which was built in 1928 and is registered as an historic landmark. The property is conveniently located near College Station, Texas and Texas A&M University.

The limestone and marble building is in the heart of downtown Bryan, close to businesses, shops and restaurants. There are two meeting rooms available for business meetings and events; the Grand Room accommodating up to 70, and the Brazos Room accommodating up to 45. The property is full of charm, with black and white tile floors in the guestroom baths and claw-foot bathtubs in many of the rooms.

Magnolia Hotels, which is noted for its attention to customer service, offers a wide variety of amenities. These same amenities, including complimentary breakfast, evening beer and wine reception, and signature bedtime cookie buffet also are offered at the LaSalle Hotel. In addition to the businesses located in historic downtown Bryan, the hotel enjoys close proximity to other businesses and attractions such as the Brazos County Courthouse, Scott & White Health System, the George Bush Presidential Library, Blinn College and Texas A&M University.

“The unveiling of the 'new' LaSalle Hotel under the leadership of Magnolia Hotels is a very exciting milestone for the City of Bryan,” said Mayor Conlee. “We believe the fresh, new look of the hotel provides visitors to our community with a more contemporary lodging option while preserving the historic nature of the hotel. We believe this will stimulate more interest and visits to Historic Downtown Bryan.”

Magnolia Hotels was awarded the management contract of the LaSalle in October 2009 by Bryan Commerce and Development, a non-profit entity of the City of Bryan after a competitive request for proposal process. The LaSalle property is the third Texas property managed by Magnolia; the company also operates hotels in Dallas and Houston.
