The City Rooms in Leicester Prepare to Open with Oasis PMS and POS

. October 14, 2008

LEICESTER, UK, January 12, 2007. Work started in 1796 to build the finest hotel in the centre of Leicester. In honour of this prestigious development, the street it was on was named Hotel Street.

Unfortunately, the original developer ran out money before the hotel could open, and the building was never completed. The public rooms were open for the Leicester Derby Ball in 1803, and these function suites are the only part of the hotel that ever saw any guests.

With a magnificent Ballroom that runs the length of the first floor, the hand painted ceiling and parquet wood floor have survived many attempts at modernisation.

Now undergoing a sympathetic restoration at the hands of Naresh Parmar, The City Rooms will finally accommodate guests overnight, in new deluxe suites. The building also benefits from the innovative Linux based Oasis Property Management System, and Point of Sale.

Oasis was installed in time for the Christmas party season, with one fully integrated database handling all of the functions, including the whole of the Sales Ledger. 'The service was excellent, and this was the same with the support staff.' says Naresh Parmar.

'Despite parts of the building still being very much a building site, we managed to overcome the challenges that arose and get the Oasis POS operational in time for the peak season' said John Palmer, Director of Sales & Marketing for Sensible IT Ltd, the exclusive distributors for Oasis Hospitality Software.
