Aspen Group Changes Name to Provenance

Boutique Urban Hotel Owner

. October 14, 2008

PORTLAND, OR, January 16. 2007. Formerly Aspen Hotel Group, Provenance Hotels launches its new name which closely fits the company's goals and vision. With multiple hotels exuding unique artistic identities and a high-level of service, the new name is a perfect representation for the company that owns and operates urban, art-filled and boutique hotels. "Provenance" is most often heard in the art world when a piece of art needs authentication or proof of origin.

"Our company vision and goal is to continue creating hotels that incorporate a specific art direction and high-level of service into the brand of a property," said Gordon Sondland, president of Provenance Hotels. "Provenance is a fitting word to describe our focus on high design, unique service offerings and story around the arts."

The company is actively looking to acquire additional assets primarily in the Western United States and Western Canada as an outright purchase or a joint venture with existing owners. Provenance Hotels focuses on urban full-service hotels between 100 and 400 rooms. It is also keenly interested in specific key suburban or airport locations that are currently branded or underperforming. With its expertise in developing a story around the arts, the company finds properties that it can de-flag and re-brand completely.

Provenance Hotels currently owns and operates five hotels: Hotel Lucia in Portland, Ore. (Conde Nast Traveler's Top Hotels in the World), opened in 2002; Hotel deLuxe in Portland, Ore., recently opened in 2006; Hotel Max in Seattle, Wash. (honored with multiple design awards), opened in 2005; Hotel Murano in Tacoma, Wash., which will launch in the fall of 2007; and Hotel Preston in Nashville, Tenn., opened in 2003.
