September 15, 2010 - Nick Simmonds has been named Managing Director at GoldenEye Hotel & Resort, part of Chris Blackwell's Island Outpost collection of hotels in Jamaica. The property, which is set on a lush 52-acre estate that features pristine coastline, serene lagoons and lush tropical gardens, was originally home to Ian Fleming and is the location where he penned all 14 James Bond novels. The property encompasses 22 units - 9 new Beach Cottages, two new Lagoon Cottages, six new Lagoon Suites, Fleming's original villa and the four villas built by Blackwell.

Simmonds brings a wealth of experience to his role, gained through his career specializing in launching and operating some of the most prestigious hotels and resorts in the world. Most recently, he was the General Manager at The Cotton House in Mustique and prior to this was responsible for launching and managing the highly acclaimed COMO Hotels & Resorts property, Parrot Cay, in the Turks and Caicos. A gifted linguist, Simmonds speaks Zulu, Xhosa, and Afrikaans, in addition to his native language, English. Other career highlights include appointments that range from the remote African bush, where he began his career in hospitality by working as a guide, to New York City's Upper East Side, where he worked for Private Worldwide Property Portfolio.

As Managing Director, Simmonds will oversee all operations for GoldenEye Hotel & Resort - from the completion of the new accommodations, to the resort opening, and beyond. In time for the November opening, the resort will also be home to two new restaurants - Le Bar Bizot and The Gazebo - as well as an extensive activities program led by Jamaican Olympic tri-athlete, Iona Wynter. The fun, fitness-focused experiences on offer will include bay rafting, Jet Ski leg and ab workouts, stretch and snorkel classes, triathlon training, moon yoga and more.

Introductory rates start at $536 per night, include full breakfast and are valid until April 30 based on availability.
