Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber to Join IHG in November
November 4, 2010 - The Holiday Inn relaunch continues to make its way across the globe and has now reached the sun and surf of Hawaii with the official opening of the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort. Hawaii's only Holiday Inn®-branded hotel will officially join the IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) system on Nov. 9, 2010.
The former OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber recently completed a $30 million renovation and now showcases elements of Holiday Inn's $1 billion relaunch, which was established to create a more contemporary brand image, improving quality and driving consistency across the global portfolio. With more than 3,400 hotels and 430,000 guest rooms around the world, the sheer magnitude of the Holiday Inn relaunch is unmatched in hospitality history.
“As one of the most highly sought-after leisure markets in the U.S., Hawaii is a natural fit within our portfolio of relaunched Holiday Inn hotels,” said Gina LaBarre, vice president, Brand Delivery, the Americas. “As we bring the relaunch into new markets, it's important that we have presence in the top vacation destinations desired by our guests. It's easy to imagine weary road warriors bringing their families to this resort to recharge with an unforgettable getaway.”
The Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort is owned and operated by Outrigger Enterprises Group, known for its unparalleled reputation for delivering a high-quality guest experience coupled with distinctive “Hawaiian” hospitality. Outrigger's “many brands, one 'ohana (family)” strategy leverages the company's ability to manage multiple brands, while maintaining the acclaimed Outrigger collection of upscale, luxury leisure hotels and resort condominiums located in some of the most desirable destinations throughout Hawaii, the Pacific, Asia and Australia.
“We are excited to welcome Holiday Inn as part of our expanding portfolio of accommodation choices in Hawaii,” said Barry Wallace, senior vice president of operations for Outrigger Enterprises Group. “Guests of the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort can look forward to Outrigger's outstanding guest service and island hospitality coupled with Holiday Inn's enhanced standards and services.”
