New Owners Renovate Restaurant at David Walley's Resort
December 30, 2010 - The historic David Walley's Resort is getting a much needed facelift. The facilities are still open during this exciting time. Summerwinds Resorts Services, based in Branson, Missouri, has recently purchased and is renovating the historic David Walley's Resort. Summerwinds Resorts share a unique philosophy, “A vacation state of mind” and “Refresh, Relax, & Reconnect” which encompasses what many have and will experience at 1862 David Walley's Resort, Spa, and Restaurant.
The founders of Summerwinds Resorts, Joseph Pat Joyce and Dawn M Joyce are no strangers to the resort industry. Joined by partners Darren Abbott and Rich Dowdell, they collectively contribute more than 75 years of experience and success in the resort industry. Pat Joyce said “We made this purchase to restore a historic icon in the Carson Valley community, and bring back what David and Harriet Walley envisioned years ago.”
The purchase included the restaurant and spa, which are now open at David Walley's Hot Spring Resort, one of Nevada's oldest resorts. According to Pat Joyce “Significant capital has already been invested into the resort in order to facilitate improvements.” Along with the renovations a slight name change also occurred, to represent the landmark status of the property.
The 1862 David Walley's Restaurant and Saloon renovations include maple wood floors, luxurious leather seating, and new equipment throughout the restaurant and bar. Our outstanding menu features premium meats, fresh seafood, elk, antelope, rattlesnake, bison, and many other savory entrees adding to this new fine dining atmosphere. Our new menu features Greg Norman Signature line of Australian Wagyu beef, which is known for its intense marbling and unmatched flavor. We are striving to achieve a Wine Spectator Award, which will feature wines from every region around the world and include over 200,000 different varieties. Quoting Harriet Walley, “Walley's will cater to the palate with delicious food that included all substantial and every delicacy in season”. Today, we are following her ideals by continuing to offer nightly specials that feature seasonal delicacies to entertain your palate.
For intimate dining parties of 6 or more on your special occasion, make reservations to dine in the original wine cellar built in 1862. Also offered are a historic private dining room and an island gazebo used for weddings, banquets, anniversaries and other special occasions. 1862 David Walley's Restaurant and Saloon is open 7 days a week, except for Christmas Day, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
