Shu Naito Promoted to SVP of Coast Hotels

February 23, 2011 - Shu has held the position of Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Coast Hotels & Resorts for the past eight years in addition to serving as Vice President of Okabe North America Inc., a subsidiary of Japan's Okabe Co., Ltd., Coast Hotels' parent company.

Shu has held the position of Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Coast Hotels & Resorts for the past eight years in addition to serving as Vice President of Okabe North America Inc., a subsidiary of Japan's Okabe Co., Ltd., Coast Hotels' parent company. He is also Chief Representative of Okabe Co. Ltd.'s Vancouver office, charged with expanding and diversifying Okabe's investment base.

In his capacity as Executive Vice President of Coast Hotels, Shu was responsible for the acquisition, development and divestiture of hotel properties on behalf of Okabe North America Inc. Most recently, he spearheaded the land acquisition, planning and construction of Coast Hotels' flagship $60-million, 20-storey Coast Coal Harbour Hotel, which opened in downtown Vancouver in January 2010. He also oversaw the acquisition and $5-million renovation of the 110-room Coast Chilliwack Hotel in Chilliwack, B.C., which opened in June 2009.

Shu joined Okabe Co., Ltd. in 1987, serving as Administrative Manager of the Company's International Division in Tokyo and Assistant Project Manager of Ocean Farm, a fish farm in Hawaii owned by Okabe. He moved to Vancouver two years later working as Business Development Manager of Okabe's International Division responsible for the company's business interests in the U.S. and Western Canada. Shu was appointed Corporate Secretary of Okabe North America Inc. in 1991 and promoted to Vice President in 1994. That same year he was named Corporate Treasurer of Coast Hotels Limited. In 2004, Shu was promoted to Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Coast Hotels Limited and appointed to the Board of Directors.

Shu holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Arizona State University. He also completed the PAMI (Pacific Asian Management Institute) Post-Graduate Program at the University of Hawaii and the Advanced Management Program for the Hospitality Industry from the University ofGuelph.

He is a past Chair of the Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce and is actively involved in various charities. A resident of Vancouver, Shu is a voracious reader of business books and enjoys snowboarding and golfing in his spare time.
