Cancun, Mexico - March 10, 2011 - JW Marriott Cancun Resort and Spa has been recognized among the top .25 percent of hotels in North America as a AAA Five Diamond property for the fourth consecutive year. Sister property CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort also received high marks from AAA in 2011, honored with the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for the 18th consecutive year.
AAA ranks approximately 60,000 properties each year, bestowing only 179 properties, less than one percent, with the coveted Five Diamond Award. In fact, JW Marriott Cancun Resort and Spa is one of only 14 hotels in Mexico, and one of two Marriott properties in North America, to earn the distinction this year.
CasaMagna Marriott's Four Diamond ranking is similarly remarkable with only 3.5 percent of lodgings and restaurants having earned the Four Diamond designation in 2011.
