. March 16, 2011

March 15, 2011 - Born in Ithaca NY, Robert's professional career encompasses over 28 years with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts where he has led the teams at 13 of the company's most acclaimed and award winning properties. From the shores of Hawaii to the 'urban mecca' of New York and London; Robert's experiences are endless. Most recently, Robert's post was in California where he oversaw Four Seasons in Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Jackson Hole and San Diego as well as the opening of Bora Bora

"Being a hotelier is a life choice." says Robert. "Working for Four Seasons was always my dream, I wake up every morning and can't believe I get paid for what I do." Born with that passion for people and service, Robert distinctly remembers walking down Pier 4 in Boston at the age of 12 and being amazed by Anthony Athanas and his iconic restaurant, Anthony's Pier 4. "His energy and ability to give people such a memorable experience triggered something inside me," comments Robert "and I knew what path I wanted to follow."

As a graduate of Cornell University, Robert's world was opened and his career began in the restaurants of the hotels. In 1983 he joined Four Seasons Ritz Carlton in Chicago. His passion for travel and the company allowed him to work throughout Europe and the US at various destination properties.

"It's all about the little things we offer and taking care of every single detail. My job is to ensure our guests continue to receive the service for which we are so renowned. Over the past few years Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver has undergone such an incredible transformation with the addition of YEW restaurant + bar and the lobby and bedroom renovations. "It's fantastic to arrive into a hotel that has so much presence," says Robert. "I look forward to keeping us edgy and making our experience to the guests memorable."

Robert arrives with surfboard in hand and ready to explore all that BC has to offer. Robert feels fortunate to have the opportunity to move to a city that offers a true balance of urban influences and the great outdoors. "Vancouver has so much to offer and I look forward to seeing it all," says Robert who arrives to Vancouver with his wife Amy and their two children, Sandy and Alessia.
