New Orleans Welcomes IHG to Its Westbank Area

June 20, 2011 - IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) [LON: IHG, NYSE: IHG (ADRs)], announced the opening of the Candlewood Suites Avondale-New Orleans, located in a suburban setting just a short ride from downtown New Orleans, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The first midscale extended-stay hotel in the Westbank New Orleans area, the 83-room, three-story Candlewood Suites Avondale-New Orleans offers business and leisure travelers all the comforts of home in a brand-new hotel.

The new hotel, which features a comfortable residential look and environmentally friendly amenities, is the seventh Candlewood Suites in Louisiana and the second in the vibrant New Orleans area.

In addition to being just 12 miles from downtown New Orleans - with its famous French Quarter and vibrant nightlife - the hotel located at 3079 Highway 90 is just two miles from the historic Huey P. Long Bridge and the Avondale Shipyard. It is conveniently located near several area businesses including Northrup Grumman, Union Pacific, BNSF, Monsato Chemical Supply and the Waterford 3 Nuclear Plant. It is also a short ride from the Belle Chase Naval Base. Guests can take advantage of nearby attractions such as the TPC Golf Course - home to the Zurich Classic - local swamp tours, Bayou Segnette State Park and Boomtown Casino.

Guests at the new Candlewood Suites Avondale-New Orleans can enjoy the brand's just-like-home amenities. The hotel features a business center, pet-walking trail and a gazebo with a barbecue grill. The hotel also includes complimentary high-speed Internet access, free local phone calls, free on-site guest laundry and a 24-hour fitness center. Guests can enjoy the convenience of the Candlewood Cupboard®, where a variety of beverages, breakfast items, snacks, frozen entrees and sundries are available for purchase on the honor system at any time. Additionally, guests can visit the free Lending Library, where movies and music are available for use in guestrooms, which all feature a DVD and CD player.

Candlewood Suites hotels feature a combination of studio and one-bedroom suite floor plans with a full kitchen, comfortable recliner, large workspace with desk chair and overhead lighting. Candlewood Suites hotels also offer the brand's Comforts of HomeTM Bedding Collection with upgraded mattresses and box spring sets, mattress topper, fluffy duvet inserts and poly-cotton covers matching the hotel's color scheme, 250-thread count micro-check sateen sheets in "Candlelight", triple sheeting, contemporary cotton estate blankets, choice of three upgraded pillow types in firm, medium and feather and a decorative "Consider Us Home" pillow.

The Candlewood Suites Avondale-New Orleans is owned by VJH Hospitality LLC and managed by Hajari Hospitality Management under a licensing agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.
