July 14, 2011 - The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) will recognize notable campaigns that 'made their mark' in the travel industry this year with its annual Adrian Awards. For the 55th time, the HSMAI Adrian Awards (www.adrianawards.com) will honor inspired advertising, digital marketing and public relations in the travel industry.

The annual event signifies the largest and most prestigious travel marketing competition and will open its call for entries Friday, July 15. The early deadline for entries is Sept. 2, 2011, and the final deadline is Sept. 16, 2011.

“The Adrian Awards exemplifies the industry's cream of the crop,” said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHA, president and CEO of HSMAI. “Our judges are set on identifying campaigns that have the 'Adrian factor', which include an emphasis on robust ROI and creative thinking.”

The HSMAI Adrian Awards competition is comprised of multiple categories in three entry divisions: Advertising, Digital Marketing, Public Relations.

2011 HSMAI Adrian Awards specialty awards include the following:

  • American Express Loyalty Award - for demonstrating creativity for the loyalty concept, clarity of outreach and sustainability of the loyalty concept beyond an advertised campaign

  • Leader in Sustainable Tourism Award, presented in conjunction with National Geographic Traveler - for exemplary leadership and innovation in preserving and communicating an authentic sense of place through a wisely-managed tourism program

  • TravelClick eMarketer of the Year - recognizing the best integrated eMarketing program in the hotel industry

Entry submission for award consideration is handled entirely online. Entrants must complete an online statement of communication and submit supporting electronic creative materials. Complete entry requirements can be found at www.adrianawards.com.

“The campaigns cross fields, cross media, and cross creative limits,” said Gilbert. “This award competition exemplifies making a mark on the industry while inspiring consumers and generating sales.”

Adrian Award winners will join the ranks of recent top honorees, includign The Hilton Hotels and Resorts, the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission, Hampton® Hotels, the Napa Valley Destination Council, the Barbados Tourism Industry, among others.

“HSMAI is an incredible organization for marketing professionals around the world,” said Kieran Donahue, senior director of Hilton Hotels and Resorts. “Earning the Best in Show in the Public Relations category and winning an additional Silver Adrian are true milestones for us. Achieving a tangible impact on our business to the benefit of our hotels is always a key driver for us, but recognition from professionals within our industry means a great deal to us.”
