Old Government House Guernsey's First Ever Five Star Hotel
July 21, 2011 - The Old Government House Hotel and Spa, Guernsey (affectionately known as The OGH), is thrilled to announce it has been awarded Guernsey's first ever five star hotel rating. Awarded by the Island's Department of Commerce and Employment (which has responsibility for tourism marketing and development on the Island), this five star placing follows a recent quality rating assessment.
The five star rating attributed to The OGH was achieved by reaching agreed high standards of comfort, service, operations and quality facilities and recognises the commitment made by the hotel, part of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, to continue to consistently deliver the highest quality of guest experience.
On announcing the award, Minister for Commerce and Employment Deputy Carla McNulty Bauer said, “Congratulations to the team at The Old Government House Hotel on learning all of their hard work has paid off and the hotel has been awarded a five star grading, providing Guernsey with its first ever five star hotel. The addition of a five star hotel property to the Island's portfolio allows Guernsey to rival any town, city or tourist resort on the range of accommodation offering.”
Jonathan Raggett, Managing Director of Red Carnation Hotel Collection, commented, “I am delighted that The Old Government House Hotel has been awarded the Island's first ever five star hotel rating, and am particularly proud of all the staff who endeavour to provide guests with the highest standards of service and make every guest feel at home. Every one of our fourteen properties operates on the principle that no request is too large, no detail too small.”
Andrew Chantrell, General Manager of The OGH, added, “This recognition is the culmination of the hard work of not only the whole team at the hotel but also that of our President and Founder Mrs. Beatrice Tollman. She is steadfast in her commitment to the guest experience, and has invested heavily in refurbishment across the hotel to help us achieve the standards befitting Guernsey's first five star property. We'd also like to thank Guernsey's Department for Commerce and Employment for their continued support.”
Located in the heart of St Peter Port, The Old Government House Hotel and Spa, is one of the best known and loved hotels on the Island. Overlooking the harbour, castle and sea, The OGH offers stunning panoramic views across to the neighbouring islands of Sark and Herm and even the French coastline on a clear day. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful private gardens, with a terrace and heated swimming pool and is an idyllic spot for relaxing, sunbathing or enjoying a cocktail. The hotel's spa offers luxurious treatments and a comprehensively equipped fitness center for guests. No two guest rooms are the same: the 62 elegantly stylish and individually decorated rooms and suites offer timeless elegance and splendid luxury.
